Oaklawn Hospital's Cardiopulmonary Services is comprised of a team of experienced respiratory therapists that provide inpatient, and outpatient non-invasive cardiac and pulmonary diagnostic services and patient evaluation. Cardiopulmonary Services is located on the hospital’s lower level. It is open for outpatient services from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments are required. Cardiopulmonary Services also offers sleep disorders testing at the Oaklawn Hospital Sleep Center, 401 E. Michigan Avenue.
Oaklawn Hospital's Cardiopulmonary Services Department has earned Quality Respiratory Care Recognition by the American Association for Respiratory Care. About 700 hospitals or approximately 15% of hospitals in the United States have applied for and received this award.
The QRCR program was started by the American Association for Respiratory Care in 2003 to help consumers identify those facilities using qualified respiratory therapists to provide respiratory care. Hospitals earning the QRCR designation ensure patient safety by agreeing to adhere to a strict set of criteria governing their respiratory care services.
